The PTA program offers extensive hands-on instruction in campus labs and clinical training working onsite in physical therapy departments and clinics. During this real-world training you’ll have an opportunity to shadow qualified professionals and apply the skills you’ve learned working with actual patients, to prepare you with the on-the-job skills you need for employment.
Our PTA leadership and faculty will support you each step of the way by providing a nurturing and collaborative environment where you can learn and grow. The Physical Therapist Assistant program offers “Hybrid” delivery – combining a supportive, hands-on, campus-based education environment with the independence and flexibility of online learning.
At PSI, our focus is on your success. Employment is the goal. The 72-week (six 12-week quarters) Physical Therapist Assistant program includes 656 hours of clinical training. Your training will include working onsite in actual physical therapy departments and clinics. During this special real-world training you'll have an opportunity to shadow qualified professionals and apply the skills you've learned during your campus labs, working with actual patients. A dedicated clinical coordinator works closely with students to help match clinical sites best suited for their location and schedules..
PSI provides labs that are fully equipped with the tools and equipment that you can expect to be using in your job as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Physical Therapist Assistant courses are taught by instructors who have a minimum of Bachelor of Science or Arts degree. In addition, every instructor is required to have at least 3 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant. Students benefit from the real-world experience from instructors who have worked in the field.
PSI’s Physical Therapist Assistant program meets the educational requirements for licensure as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) in the state of Ohio and in the state of Michigan.

Those who successfully graduate from the Physical Therapist Assistant program may be eligible to take the NPTE:PTA National Physical Therapy Exam®. Approval to take the examination is not automatic. Successfully passing the NPTE:PTA is one of several requirements for licensure.
Requirements for licensure vary among states. In order to locate the licensure eligibility requirements of another state, please contact the licensing board of that state.
