Why Choose PSI?

The LPN to RN Bridge Program features fully equipped labs with the tools and equipment found in real-world settings. In addition, our students train using specialized simulator manikins that offer a realistic training experience. These manikins are used to simulate a variety of scenarios that healthcare professionals may encounter and provide immediate feedback and evaluation on student performance. They’re a valuable tool for students to practice and perfect their skills in a safe and controlled environment!

Our LPN to RN Bridge Program includes 270 hours of clinical training beginning in your first quarter and continuing through the end of the program. During this special training, you’ll work onsite in actual medical facilities shadowing a qualified professional where you can apply the skills you’ve learned during your campus labs!

PSI’s course instructors, lab instructors, and clinical instructors are Registered Nurses and are required to have at least 3 years of nursing experience. In addition, instructors teaching LPN to RN Bridge program nursing courses have a minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Students benefit from the real-world experience from instructors who have worked in the field.

Hybrid learning at PSI means you’ll complete lectures and assignments online while gaining essential, hands-on experience in our labs or clinical settings.

The Practical Nurse program offers open lab time during specified weeks that is fully staffed with instructors for students who are interested in, or may need, additional training on specific skills.

What Does an RN Do?

Registered Nurses have increased responsibilities and work under the direction of a physician. RNs are responsible for assessing a patient’s condition, recording the patient medical history and symptoms, and observing the patient’s condition and recording those observations. RNs are also responsible for setting up patient care plans, administering patient medications and treatments, assisting in patient diagnostic tests and analyzing test results. One of the most important functions of an RN is to consult with doctors and other healthcare professionals in order to effectively educate patients on how to effectively manage their care at home after their medical treatment. RNs play a crucial role in patient care and family support during times of medical crisis.

RNs supervise licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and nursing aides under the direction of a physician or any of the following who is authorized to practice in this state (Ohio) or surrounding states where licensed: physician assistant, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, or chiropractor.
